Our journey with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group spans the three phases of their approach to become an API enabled bank utilising APIs as their channel of choice.
The first phase had us anchoring a close-knit team of 10 to deliver the Open Banking "Open Data" APIs to a cloud only solution (utilising Amazon Web Services) for which we provided the lead developer and cloud automation expert to implement infrastructure-as-code (using HashiCorp Terraform). We worked alongside their Senior Architect to participate in the definition of the UK standards at the Open Banking implementation Entity.
The second phase built upon our mutual success, with increased participation at the UK standards body representing RBSG views, working across multiple departments within the RBSG to agree the foundational architecture for their API channel and seeding a scaled development team. With our guidance and leadership, RBSG delivered Open Banking functional compliance ahead of the deadline agreed with the CMA for over 8 million customers, heavily embracing our automation work.
The third phase (on-going) has been focussed on scaling their API platform, a renewed prioritisation of their discretionary API propositions and increased functionality through thought leadership in the identity and access management space. We have been critical in both the design and approval of their implementation of CIBA and secure App to App redirection.
Engaged to provide consultancy services to a new payments focussed fintech in London.
Syntaxa provided application architecture support and subsequently led the (permanent) development team aiding their CTO with recruitment.
Our Cloud architect was key in promoting a cloud-first approach to infrastructure and operations. We worked alongside a member of the permanent team to upskill them in cloud provisioning and DevOps principles to ensure Pay With Bolt had a sustainable capability within their team.
With our help Pay with Bolt integrated with tens of payment service providers on three continents and was on a trajectory to process over seven figures of transactions annually.

Find out how we worked with one of our enterprise partners to recover their API programme and provide a persistent capability within their delivery team.
